Advanced Lyre Playing

Master several advanced techniques such as harmonics, eighth and sixteenth notes, arpeggios, and fast-tempo playing while learning well-known melodies such as "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" by W. A. Mozart, "The Last of the Mohicans", "O Pastor" by Madredeus, and "Take my breath away" by Berlin. As a bonus, you are going to introduce yourself to polyphonic playing on a lyre!

    At the end of the course you will know how to...

    • Play harmonics with the left hand.
    • Practice eighth and sixteenth notes.
    • Practice arpeggios.
    • Play the famous melody "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" by W. A. Mozart.
    • Play two original ancient greek melodies.
    • Play the famous song "Take my breath away" by Berlin.
    • Play the well-known song "O Pastor" by Madredeus.

    * This course is for intermediate to advanced lyre players and for lyres of any type with at least 7 strings. It is highly recommended to first complete the beginner courses 101, 102 and 103, along with all core lessons (both beginner and intermediate) availabel also at LyreAcademy.

    * Do you own a lyre with more strings? The course can be done by students with a lyre or a kithara with 7 or more strings. Simple and step-by-step videos are available to prepare your lyre for the courses (including tuning).

    We are going to focus on a quite demanding song by Madredeus with three distinct parts (intro, part a and part b), giving us the opportunity to experiment with a series of advanced lyre playing techniques: harmonics, eighth and sixteenth notes, various fingerings etc.

    Lesson 5 : Master your arpeggios playing

    Master your arpeggios technique, while learning how to play (step by step) the famous song "Take my breath away" by Berlin! This is a great chance to practice your signing too while playing the lyre.
