Master Five Ancient Melodies

Learn how to play the most impressive ancient melodies that survive until today in just one course! Add to your music repertoire well-known songs such as the “Hurrian Hymn” and the “Delphic Hymn”, along with surviving tunes known (among others) as “Oktasimos”, “Dekasimos”, “Dodekasimos”, “Schema Musica Antique”, and “Parte di Canto Greco del Modo Hippolidio”. Complete successfully this course and you are ready to give your first live gig as an ancient music performer.  

At the end of the course you will know how to...

  • Play the oldest written song "Hurrian Hymn".

  • Change between two tunings in your lyre during a live performance. 

  • Play and sing "Schema Musica Antique".

  • Play and sing "Parte di Canto Greco del Modo Hippolidio".

  • Play the original ancient Greek melody "Delphic Hymn".

  • Play two extra incomplete ancient Greek melodies.

* This course is for intermediate to advanced lyre players and for lyres of any type with at least 7 strings. It is highly recommended to first complete the beginner courses 101, 102 and 103, along with all core lessons (both beginner and intermediate) availabel also at LyreAcademy.

* Do you own a lyre with more strings? The course can be done by students with a lyre or a kithara with 7 or more strings. Simple and step-by-step videos are available to prepare your lyre for the courses (including tuning).

By reading the notes on a music sheet and by getting into the 3/8 rhythm, we are going to learn step by step a surviving ancient melody.

It's time to add signing in our lyre playing, by accepting the challenge and learn how to play this ancient tune. Lyrics are in ancient Greek but we can practice together your signing!
